Our Story
We are Jamie & Sean Rockhill, founders of Rockhill Brothers Coffee Co.
In 2016 our journey began when we first found out about speciality coffee, we were blown away by the variety of flavours you could find within it. We visited lots of coffee shops and roasters in search of different varieties and origin coffees and began to explore the industry further.
We tried coffees from all over the world and were surprised by the number of different varieties there were. We started to understand the process and hard work that goes into growing and preparing the coffee before it reaches it’s final destination, and this made the whole experience even more enjoyable. At this point we knew we wanted to do something related to coffee. We started to explore the idea of opening a coffee shop and soon realised that we did not have the capital to make this possible. We then decided to join the Prince’s Trust and participate in a business enterprise course. This taught us the ins and outs of setting up and running a business, as well as helping us gain in self confidence through various workshops and events. After completing the course we started meeting with a business mentor who recommended that we took some time to explore all aspects of the coffee industry.
We talked with roasters, coffee shop owners, baristas and even met coffee farmers. We became fascinated with the science and process behind roasting coffee and soon decided this was the avenue we wanted to pursue. The next stage was to buy a roaster and after lots of research we bought our Dalian Amazon 1kg roaster which now sits proudly in our roastery. We attended a roasting course to further expand our knowledge and master the technicalities and theory behind the roasting of coffee.
